What is Wireless Internet?
|
Wireless Internet Access is a highspeed, always on, broadband technology similar to DSL. With Wireless the copper phone line required with DSL is substituted by a connection or link between two antennas using high-frequency radio waves to transmit and receive data. The data packets are securely transmitted to a small, unobtrusive and mobile antenna at your home or business from a server antenna on our tower. The advantage of Wireless compared to DSL is that the customer's antenna can reach anywhere within a 15 mile unobstructed radius of the tower antenna. This gives you the freedom of being wireless on one or multiple computers and keeps your phone line free. Because the antennas require a clear *Line of Site* between the transmitting and receiving antennas a small unobtrusive antenna is mounted either on the roof or chimney of your home or business. The advantages of fixed wireless include the ability to connect with users in remote areas without the need for phone service or laying new cables. We broadcast on the 2.4 GHz and 5 Ghz frequency bands. This allows us to use small, low cost, FCC approved antennas running rates from 1MB thru 54MB and up to 108MB Turbo making installation easier and less obtrusive. |

A cable is then run from the antenna into your building. Use of an inexpensive network router allows multiple computers to simultaneously run thru the connection wirelessly.
